In 2010, after more than 3 years without any LNAH team in the city, Christian Deschênes (third from left) decide with three friends (from left to right: Jonathan Forest, Steven Low, Gregory Dupré) to give a reason for Sorel-Tracy's hockey fan to come-back to the old Colisée Cardin. This whole process wasn't an easy one needing a lot of money and time before seeing any hockey player wearing the jersey. There were able to find go sponsorship fast enough to be ready for the 2010-2011 season. One of the major sponsorship bought the right to name the organisation, the GCI hockey was officially born.

The team dynamic will be like no other place in the league because of the fact that the majority of the owner's group was in fact players. Players that played in the league for many years bringing teammates from all around the league. They wanted to create a team that every Sorelois will want to go see so they did
everything they could to get an hold on every Sorel-Tracy native players creating a good team spirit right at the start. Everything was set for a great season, but unfortunately this is not really how it turned out. GCI environment was in financial difficulty so they had to sell their assets. Buying the company meant that the person was also getting most of the part of the hockey team. WIthout going into details, the person fraud the rest of the organisation running away without paying the sum of money he was suppose to (around 75 000$). |
For the rest of the year team was figthing hard both on the ice and in court. The court gave reason to the hockey club but still haven't receive anything yet. The organisation perseverence was so strong that they worked their way out so that we still get to see the players jump on the ice every week. Seeing the commitment of the players and the good-will of the leaders, other sponsor jumped in. This is why the team is now competing in his third season in the league and second under the name HC (hockey club) Carvena.
